Essa \u00e1gua, mais a \u00e1gua subterr\u00e2nea e a da chuva que penetra diariamente na planta s\u00e3o armazenadas. Diariamente, 170 toneladas de \u00e1gua fluem para tanques de tratamento da TEPCO, onde ela \u00e9 processada para eliminar a maioria dos is\u00f3topos radioativos \u2013 menos o tr\u00edlio, um is\u00f3topo radioativo de hidrog\u00eanio que as usinas nucleares diluem e despejam rotineiramente junto com a \u00e1gua nos oceanos.<\/p>\n<p>Por\u00e9m, o Greenpeace, no relat\u00f3rio\u00a0<em>Stemming the Tide 2020: The reality of the Fukushima radioactive water crisis,<\/em>\u00a0alega que o carbono radioativo contido na \u00e1gua armazenada contaminaria o oceano, \u201cconcentrando-se em um n\u00edvel milhares de vezes superior ao do tr\u00edtio, com o potencial de danificar o DNA humano\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>O autor do estudo e especialista nuclear s\u00eanior do Greenpeace Alemanha, Shaun Burnie, disse \u00e0\u00a0<em>CNN<\/em>\u00a0que pode haver um total de at\u00e9 63,6 GBq (gigabecquerels) de carbono-14 nos tanques de armazenamento. A TEPCO contestou a informa\u00e7\u00e3o atrav\u00e9s de seu porta-voz, Ryounosuke Takanori: segundo ele, a concentra\u00e7\u00e3o de carbono-14 contido na \u00e1gua tratada \u00e9 de cerca de 2 a 220 becquerels por litro, conforme medido nos tanques.<\/p>\n<h2>Tr\u00eas d\u00e9cadas<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cMesmo que a \u00e1gua seja continuamente consumida a uma taxa de dois litros por dia, a exposi\u00e7\u00e3o anual ser\u00e1 em um n\u00edvel que n\u00e3o afeta a\u00a0<a title=\"Sa\u00fade\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tecmundo.com.br\/saude\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sa\u00fade<\/a>&#8220;, disse ele, adiantando, por\u00e9m, que a TEPCO reprocessar\u00e1 toda a \u00e1gua para eliminar o m\u00e1ximo poss\u00edvel os n\u00edveis de tr\u00edtio e demais materiais radioativos.
