completamente os res\u00edduos de pl\u00e1stico em menos de 24 horas, aumentando as esperan\u00e7as de que os processos biol\u00f3gicos possam fornecer uma rota para enfrentar a crescente crise mundial de pl\u00e1sticos.<\/p>\n<p>Pesquisadores da Universidade do Texas em Austin anunciaram recentemente que usaram intelig\u00eancia artificial para projetar com sucesso um tipo de enzima, chamada hidrolase, que pode quebrar o pl\u00e1stico PET em suas mol\u00e9culas.<\/p>\n<p>Esses materiais podem ent\u00e3o ser reformados em novos produtos.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs possibilidades s\u00e3o infinitas em todos os setores para alavancar esse processo de reciclagem de ponta\u201d, disse Hal Alper, um dos principais pesquisadores e professor do Departamento de Engenharia Qu\u00edmica McKetta pesquisadores demonstraram todo um processo de reciclagem circular, usando a enzima para quebrar completamente as amostras de pl\u00e1stico em materiais que eles usaram para gerar pe\u00e7as inteiramente novas de PET.<\/p>\n<p>Notavelmente, o processo funcionou t\u00e3o bem com PET de cores quanto com produtos transparentes.<\/p>\n<p>Tentativas anteriores de usar enzimas para quebrar o PET foram limitadas por uma s\u00e9rie de fatores, desde a vulnerabilidade das enzimas \u00e0s faixas de temperatura e pH at\u00e9 suas lentas taxas de rea\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p>Mas essa enzima \u201crobusta\u201d, acreditam os pesquisadores, ser\u00e1 capaz de lidar com varia\u00e7\u00f5es de temperatura em condi\u00e7\u00f5es de campo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAo considerar aplica\u00e7\u00f5es de limpeza ambiental, voc\u00ea precisa de uma enzima que possa funcionar \u00e0 temperatura ambiente\u201d, disse Alper.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEsse requisito \u00e9 onde nossa tecnologia tem uma enorme vantagem no futuro.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Em quantidades suficientes, a enzima pode ser usada para limpar aterros e usinas de res\u00edduos cheios de pl\u00e1stico, ou simplesmente locais que foram polu\u00eddos por pl\u00e1sticos.<\/p>\n<p>Com 400 milh\u00f5es de toneladas de pl\u00e1stico sendo descartadas todos os anos, novas solu\u00e7\u00f5es para a crise dos res\u00edduos pl\u00e1sticos
