J\u00e1 atuou como pesquisador na Universidade Princeton e no US Salinity Laboratory em Riverside, Calif\u00f3rnia \u2013 ambos nos Estados Unidos.<\/p>\n<p>Ao longo da carreira, tem desenvolvido pesquisas sobre o transporte de \u00e1gua e solutos em meios variavelmente saturados e sistemas de \u00e1guas subterr\u00e2neas.<\/p>\n<p>Tamb\u00e9m tem trabalhado com m\u00e9todos num\u00e9ricos e anal\u00edticos para simula\u00e7\u00e3o do movimento de \u00e1gua e solutos na subsuperf\u00edcie; caracteriza\u00e7\u00e3o de propriedades hidr\u00e1ulicas em meios porosos; uso de m\u00e9todos inversos para estimativa de par\u00e2metros de transporte e fluxo na zona n\u00e3o saturada; toler\u00e2ncia das plantas \u00e0 \u00e1gua e salinidade; fluxo preferencial em meios estruturados; e desenvolvimento de c\u00f3digos computacionais (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ars.usda.gov\/pacific-west-area\/riverside-ca\/agricultural-water-efficiency-and-salinity-research-unit\/docs\/model\/stanmod-model\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">STANMOD, HYDRUS<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Desde 2008, desenvolve trabalhos conjuntos e atividades acad\u00eamicas com os Departamentos de Engenharia Mec\u00e2nica, Civil e Nuclear e o Centro de Estudos Ambientais da Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp), em Rio Claro.<\/p>\n<p>Em 2010, tornou-se tamb\u00e9m professor visitante no Departamento de Ci\u00eancias da Terra da Universidade Utrecht (Pa\u00edses Baixos).<\/p>\n<p>Nos \u00faltimos anos, tem atuado em pesquisas e projetos no Programa de Engenharia Nuclear da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) e, atualmente, \u00e9 professor colaborador do Departamento de Engenharia Nuclear da UFRJ.<\/p>\n<p>Durante a confer\u00eancia, o cientista oferecer\u00e1 uma vis\u00e3o do estudo e da modelagem do fluxo de \u00e1gua subsuperficial e dos processos de transporte de contaminantes em v\u00e1rias escalas espaciais e temporais.<\/p>\n<p>Tamb\u00e9m mostrar\u00e1 como a pesquisa agr\u00edcola e seus produtos beneficiaram outras disciplinas, como hidrogeologia, engenharia de petr\u00f3leo, pesquisa de meios porosos industriais e ci\u00eancias m\u00e9dicas, entre outras.<\/p>\n<p>Genuchten ainda apresentar\u00e1 exemplos de problemas de meios porosos, envolvendo contaminantes agr\u00edcolas e industriais, e tratar\u00e1 da necessidade de intera\u00e7\u00f5es interdisciplinares.<\/p>\n<p>A modera\u00e7\u00e3o ser\u00e1 feita por\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bv.fapesp.br\/pt\/pesquisador\/843\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ciro Antonio Rosolem<\/a><\/strong>, professor da Faculdade de Ci\u00eancias Agron\u00f4micas da Unesp.<\/p>\n<p>Interessados podem se inscrever pelo\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/fapesp.br\/eventos\/conf5_inscricao\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">site<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0da FAPESP.<\/p>\n<p>O evento ser\u00e1 na rua Pio XI, 1.500, Alto da Lapa, S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\n<p>No local haver\u00e1 tradu\u00e7\u00e3o simult\u00e2nea do ingl\u00eas para o portugu\u00eas.<\/p>\n<p>Mais informa\u00e7\u00f5es em:\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/fapesp.br\/16216\/5a-conferencia-fapesp-2023-o-mundo-dos-meios-porosos-da-agricultura-e-do-meio-ambiente\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/fapesp.br\/16216\/5a-conferencia-fapesp-2023-o-mundo-dos-meios-porosos-da-agricultura-e-do-meio-ambiente<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Por Ag\u00eancia FAPESP &#8211; 25 de setembro de 2023 &#8211; Convidado ser\u00e1 o neerland\u00eas Rien van Genuchten, que falar\u00e1 sobre o mundo dos meios porosos da agricultura e do meio ambiente.\u00a0No Brasil, Rien van Genuchten colabora com pesquisadores da Unesp e da UFRJ (foto: US Salinity Laboratory em Riverside, Calif\u00f3rnia).
